You can find out more about these charities while at Alfajiri and contribute to them is you want to.
Conservation
Helping to safe guard the biodiversity of the land, Alfajiri supports various local foundations and conservation organisations. One of those is the Colobus Trust which works to protect primates like the threatened Angolan colobus monkey. They also support the Diani Turtle Watch which monitors nesting activities and raises awareness about the endangered species. The team at Alfajiri does a daily clean up of plastic waste that washes up on the beach during high tides.
Footprint
Water conservation is very important to the team at Alfajiri and you’ll be encouraged to reuse your towels. Dishwashers help to reduce the water used. You’ll also be asked to only use your air-conditioning when you’re in your room and keep the doors and windows close while it is running to help save electricity. The property is plastic free and only glass water bottles are used. Local palm tree leaf baskets are used for transporting produce and all biodegradable food waste is composted, while plastic and aluminium is recycled.
