Contemporary eco retreat
In a privately-owned, 30,000 hectare game reserve on the southern boundary of Etosha National Park, Anderssons at Ongava is a contemporary lodge designed as a direct extension of the wild landscape that surrounds it.
Seven suites and one family unit are generously sized and kitted out, with double indoor shower and outdoor showers, huge beds and even bigger views from their decked areas.
The generously proportioned suites continue the theme of discovery with décor that lends itself to a naturalist’s home. Scientific tomes, journals and a curated collection of published papers, and a digital archive are available to further pique one’s curiosity.
In the shared areas, like the bar, lounge and dining spaces, swooping wooden beams frame the panoramic landscape and neighbouring waterhole. For an even closer encounter, head to the lodge’s wildlife hide and to learn about conservation on the reserve, visit the Ongava Research Centre.

Ongava Visitor Centre
The Ongava Visitor Centre gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural history and science of the region. There are a variety of displays that you can browse at your leisure to learn about the reserve’s geology, plants and animals.
Conservation
Ongava Research Centre focuses on protecting the many rare and endangered species of animals found in Ongava Game Reserve. Extensive research into the genetics of the resident rhino population has been conducted and has proved valuable not only to Namibia, but also to other African countries. The analysis of the Ongava populations has directly aided conservation efforts, and your support helps them to continue this important work. The research and habitat management goes beyond the rhinos, and sees the reserve’s natural resources being carefully guarded for all other species as well to ensure they are given every opportunity to thrive.
