Overview
Proper, private safari
Owner run and hosted, Andrew Harkness’s mobile camp operates across the Okavango Delta and beyond on completely private multiday itineraries for couples, families and groups of friends of up to 12 people. Safari as it once was.
Whether in the Moremi, Chobe area, Khwai Concession, Kalahari Desert or Makgadikgadi Pans, arrive to your very own camp with a simple yet comfortable canvas tent, an open fire, bucket showers, a well-stocked drinks cabinet and the chance to truly feel immersed in the wild. Areas can be combined, with the camp being driven and pitched in a new region while you fly via another lodge.
It’s not often you’ll find a camp where the owner is also the guide these days, but that’s just one of the things that makes Harkness Safaris so special. With decades of knowledge, Andrew and his team’s focus is solely on ensuring your group have a memorable experience, with activities planned around what you want to do with flexible days on game drives, walks, boat excursions and more, returning to hearty meals under the stars.

-
Walking safaris
Exploring on foot gives you the chance to slow your pace and notice the smaller details. Encounters with wildlife, though at a greater distance than on a game drive, are a genuine thrill.
-
Water excursions
You can explore the Okavango Delta's waterways in a mokoro dugout canoe or motorboat, a fantastic way to enjoy the scenery and look out for wildlife in the water and on the banks.
Community & Culture
20km outside of Maun there’s a smallholding which provides employment for people from the local communities growing produce for the mobile camps as well as neighbouring communities. Harkness Safaris also support various charities, including local orphanage Banaba Letetsi. You’re welcome to arrange a visit if you’re interested in finding out more.
Footprint
Harkness Safaris has committed to running the camps with a low carbon footprint and using as little plastic as possible. Being a mobile camp, it has an extremely light physical impact on the environment.
