Overview
The land of giants
An intimate lodge in the heart of the 5,700-acre private Kimana Sanctuary and the shadows of Mount Kilimanjaro, Angama Amboseli is set within a forest of towering fever trees. It is here that some of Africa’s last Super Tuskers roam – elephants with tusks so large they sweep along the ground as they walk.
The 10 contemporary guest suites are a mix of canvas, concrete and rattan with earthy, neutral colours. Each is orientated to ensure Kili, the world’s tallest free-standing mountain, is visible from nearly every corner, from the bed to the shower, with floor-to-ceiling screened doors opening to the shaded outdoor seating area. The bathroom has a double vanity, double shower, and screened doors leading to an outdoor shower.
In the Guest Area, enjoy indoor-outdoor dining and a baraza with a fire pit for telling stories while sipping cocktails or toasting marshmallows. The Studios feature a safari shop, games room, photographic studio, art gallery and a maker’s studio where you can learn how to weave from local crafters. The swimming pool has a special drinking trough created specifically for elephants to come and quench their thirst.

Conservation & Community
Kimana Sanctuary is a critical wildlife corridor linking the greater Amboseli, Chyulu Hills and Tsavo ecosystems. Angama Amboseli has partnered with the Big Life Foundation which manages the sanctuary on behalf of 844 Maasai families who have owned the land through the generations. Lease fees paid by Angama flow to these families, ensuring that a centuries-old migratory path used by the region's famous elephants will continue to be protected.
