Overview
The Sabi Sands, privately
Chitwa House is a private hideaway tucked away in the Sabi Sand’s pristine wilderness.
Two sumptuously appointed en-suite rooms each have private decks and outdoor showers, with a spacious lounge, dining area and outdoor swimming pool between.
With your own private safari vehicle with a ranger and expert tracker, safaris are at your own pace and focusing on which animals you most want to see, while back at the house you’ll be well looked after by a dedicated butler and chef.
The safari here is exceptional, with icons such as elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and giraffe to be found on drives and on foot along with rarities like Africa wild dog, honey badger and ground hornbill for the enthusiast.

Community & Culture
Chitwa is invested in not just showing guests the best African experience possible, but also in giving back to the local community. The Chitwa Trust was founded in 2008 with the purpose of meeting two of South Africa’s greatest challenges: unemployment and lack of education. The Trust is a registered non-profit organization that provides aid to underdeveloped areas of Mpumalanga in a way that involves both conservation and community upliftment.
Footprint
Chitwa is committed to running a sustainable lodge and has implemented a number of green initiatives over the last few years such energy saving lights and pool pumps, solar water heater, using phosphate free cleaning products, recycling grey water for irrigation and using natural thatch rooves.
