Overview
A charming stayclose to San José
Overlooking the Central Valley in the green hills just north of San José, Finca Rosa Blanca is a boutique ecohotel and organic coffee farm that is a welcoming place to spend a night or two when flying from the capital.
The main building is unique and quirky with two elegant master suites and 11 junior suites and wonderfully welcoming staff. It’s also one of Costa Rica’s most sustainable properties, the first to achieve full marks in the country’s ‘Certification for Sustainable Tourism’, which you can learn about on a fascinating behind the scenes tour. The spa, gardens and ‘field to cup’ coffee tour are also must do experiences here.
When it comes to dining, you’re invited to indulge in four-course dinners of 'nouvelle Costa Rican cuisine. Organic fruits and vegetables grown mostly on site are the stars of the menu which changes daily.

Community & Culture
Just as the team here defends the integrity of Costa Rica’s natural resources, they aim to educate guests and the local communities to be better stewards of the environment. They also hire staff from the immediate area, directly benefitting the properties neighbouring towns and villages. The team also values local tradition and aims to preserve it through promoting cultural integrity when it comes to tours in the area.
Conservation
Over the past 25 years, Finca Rosa Blanca has planted more than 5,000 native trees, and was one of the first carbon-neutral hotels in the country. The team here prioritises restoring the planet and replenishing resources that have been lost.
Footprint
Finca Rosa Blanca is fully committed to sustainability and environmentally-conscious decision-making. They have a variety of initiatives in place to help reduce their impact, including solar-powered electricity and solar-heated hot water, a chemical-free ionized pool and recycling and regeneration projects which avoid the use of toxic chemicals.
