A truly wild camp
At Forest Chem Chem you’ll certainly experience a wild yet luxurious stay. The camp is pitched right in the heart of an ancient migration route between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks, where giraffes and elephants wander right outside your tent. As night draws in, you gather around the cracking fire to the sound of distant lion calls.
Acacia trees surround the four stylish safari tents providing shelter and privacy bar from the baboons swinging from tree to tree above. The camp comfortable sleeps ten people making it ideal for families and small groups looking for more intimate safari experiences.
With this exclusivity comes more freedom. Here you have the opportunity to explore the rich wildlife surrounding you in your own time with private game drives. Heading out on foot you may bump into the incredible local Maasai tribes in the area.

Game Drives
The camp offers both day and night drives in the neighbouring Tarangire and Lake Manyara. Here travellers will sight all types of wildlife lions and leopards to the grazing buffalos and antelope. Guests can also head out on foot with expect trackers to get right up close to some of the bush’s most majestic animals.

Meet the Maasai
Become emersed in the local culture and meet the Maasai chief and his tribe. This authentic and personal experience is an enlightening way to learn about their lives and traditions while sharing stories of your own aswell.

Helicopter Flights
Skim above the vast African savannah for a truly thrilling viewing of the plains below. A number of trips can be booked to fly with flamingos or overlook the vast Ngorongoro crater.
Community & Culture
The Chem Chem Association aims to make a difference by engaging with the culturally rich yet under-resourced villages in the Tarangire Ecosystem. This extends to supporting schools in some of the villages, as well as offering English courses for young people and women. A Marketplace Literacy course which teaches the fundamentals of business and how to start an entrepreneurial enterprise has proved very popular.
The goal is to expand their reach to include ten villages, encouraging more people to be involved in ensuring the long-term well-being of the wildlife and habitats around them.
Conservation
The Chem Chem-Burunge Wildlife Management area includes an important wildlife corridor which is a haven for a variety of animals. Here you’ll find not only the largest concentration of elephants in Tanzania, but also the highest number of big tuskers. This is thanks to the anti-poaching initiatives Chem Chem runs together with government agencies.
Subsistence farmers often struggle to protect their livestock from predators, and their crops from raiding elephants. Chem Chem supplies predator-proof bomas for livestock, monitors lions, persuades elephants to return to reserve areas and runs educational programmes, all of which help to avoid conflict between humans and animals.
