Overview
A slice of paradise
Experience idyllic island-living at this luxurious beach getaway. With its low-key Creole vibe, Fregate Island boasts 16 private residences dotted among the palms with stunning views of the Indian Ocean.
Each has its own infinity pool, Jacuzzi, daybed, dining area and a solar-charged island buggy. Or you can opt for the private hill estate with three villas with a dedicated team of staff.
There are seven private beaches around the island including one voted the world's most beautiful. Just flip the ‘Beach Occupied’ sign and you’ll have this paradise all to yourself.
There are two resort pools, a beach bar and casually-elegant restaurant. If water sports are your thing, then you’ll find four sports boats, a dive club and Hobie Cats at the private harbour. Head out to Little Fregate for excellent snorkeling, or try your hand at deep sea fishing. Bring your catch back for the chef to transform into sashimi for you.
The island is home to a variety of exotic species, from giant tortoises and nesting sea turtles to magpie robins, and you are welcome to participate in their conservation projects.

Conservation
After 200 years of agricultural practices almost totally decimating the natural woodland, a number of conservation efforts are helping restore the balance. A nursery established 30 years ago is regrowing various rare species. Tortoise numbers have also been increased from 150 some 25 years ago to around 3,000. Young ones are monitored at a nursery. The beaches here are vital nesting grounds for two species of sea turtles: endangered hawksbill and green turtles. Nesting season is from October to January and Fregate’s staff monitors hundreds of nests. Ambitious programmes have also seen the Seychelles magpie robin, Seychelles white eye and Seychelles warbler all brought back from the brink of extinction.
Footprint
Around 80% of the food served at Fregate comes from the island and their own gardens. The plantation gardens and hydroponics house provides a variety of tropical fruits and nuts. Over 50 types of fruit and vegetable are organically produced without pesticides.
