Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

Jack's Camp

Overview

A desert icon

Jack’s Camp is an icon in Botswana. Surrounded by over 400,000 hectares of pristine desert – a starkly beautiful place or blanketed in emerald grasses depending on the season – with sumptuous tents and exciting activities really make the most of this special place.

Its nine vast tents are a celebration of the historic campaign-style, complete with four-poster beds, antiques, curiosities and Persian rugs as well as modern luxuries like private plunge pools and both indoor and outdoor showers.

Communal areas include a swimming pavilion, tea tent, dining mess and a fascinating Natural History Museum. All a welcoming sanctuary to relax in between exploring the lunar Makgadikgadi Pans and Kalahari desert on an impressive selection of experiences including quad biking, bushman walks, desert game drives, meerkat visits and horse rides.

Conservation

1.5% of all revenue generated by Natural Selection’s camps goes back to local conservation projects. Thanks to the partnership between Jack’s Camp, Natural Selection, the local community and Round River Conservation, Africa’s second largest zebra migration, which was almost destroyed by veterinary fences in the 1960s, has returned with thousands animals returning to centuries-old migration paths.

Footprint

The newly rebuilt Jack’s Camp runs on solar power using a Tesla battery technology, including efficient air-conditioning units in the guest tents.
