Overview
A mountain hideaway
Taking its name from the Berber for 'soft breeze’, Kasbah Tamadot is a laid-back retreat in the spectacular foothills of the Atlas Mountains just south of Marrakesh.
Looking down a green valley to snowcapped peaks on the horizon, there are 28 rooms split between the kasbah itself, the 'mini kasbah’ Master suite and ten luxury Berber Tents. All are individually decorated using traditional Moroccan furnishings and antiques collected from around the world, with a handful enjoying private plunge pools.
Wander the extensive grounds to find peaceful courtyards, gorgeous gardens, a spectacular pool, spa, tennis courts, restaurant, handsome communal spaces and breathtaking views.

Community & Culture
Tamadot believes in supporting the local community. When Sir Richard Branson purchased Kasbah Tamadot, they set up free English classes for the local population, irrespective of whether they wanted to ultimately apply for a job at the hotel. Most had never been formally employed prior to joining the team, and so in many cases were trained from scratch.
Today the kasbah employs 140 staff who are all Moroccan with most of the team from the local community. Staff retention rate is exceptionally high and figures suggest that each individual employee at the hotel supports up to 10 other people in their extended family.
Supporting the local community is strengthened even further through projects initiated by Kasbah Tamadot and other charitable projects such as the Eve Branson Foundation and Virgin Unite.
Footprint
Taking care of the environment is high on the agenda. Tamadot is committed to sustainable development and recognizes its responsibility toward the environment and the local community. Consequently, they are continually looking to identify new methods for waste disposal, recycling and saving energy.
Solar panels have been installed to heat the outdoor swimming pools. This project reduced 40% of its oil consumption over one year and as a result more solar panels have been implemented to pre-heat the domestic water at Kasbah Tamadot.
It is also an accredited member of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, a not-for-profit, membership organization that aids food-service businesses to work towards sustainability in their sector and are assessed on sourcing, impact on society and the environment.
