Overview
Contemporary canvas
Named after the channel which flows past the island on which it’s situated, Kiri Camp enjoys expansive views over the floodplains spilling out to the horizon.
10 contemporary and expansive tents sit on raised decks shaded by ebony trees, each crafted from natural materials like wood, canvas and reeds. The main area features a swimming pool, dining spaces, library and lounge.
Based on a private concession, Kiri Camp offers a combination of both game drives and water activities that will take you to some of the more remote areas in the Delta. The wildlife in the area is diverse and plentiful, especially renowned for its lion and buffalo interactions as well as African wild dog sightings.

Game drives
The wildlife in the area is prolific and chances are good to see some of the larger predators, herds of elephant and buffalo and all the plains animals that occur here. As Kiri Camp is in a private concession, off-road and night driving are allowed.
-
Walking safaris
Walking safaris are also conducted generally in the morning with armed guides. The walks are leisurely and time is taken to observe the smaller things in the bush that one normally misses when driving. Walking is weather dependent, or dependent on the condition of the terrain
-
Mokoro canoes and boating
Glide on quiet mokoro canoes through the water lilies and view wildlife from below as you sail along at water level height. A motorboat ride during peak flood times promises to enthrall you and captivate you, with the chance of seeing wildlife from the river. (Water level dependent)
Community & Culture
Through various education programmes, Machaba Safaris is committed to uplifting local communities. They were involved in building Gonneye Sethlare Preschool which, as the only educational centre in the village of Ditshipi, caters for 36 children. There are plans to build more schools. Machaba has also helped communities by providing water, establishing vegetable gardens and erecting animal-proof fencing.
Conservation
Machaba Safaris works with other local groups and communities to help protect and conserve the fragile ecosystem. One way they do this is by fostering a culture of human-wildlife coexistence by running educational programmes. They also support anti-poaching patrols in the area.
