La Maison Arabe

Overview

A legendary riad

Just a short walk from Jemaa el Fna Square, La Maison was founded in 1940 by French mother and daughter pair, Suzy and Helene Sebillon-Larochette, as the first restaurant in the medina open to foreigners. In the 1990s, it was lovingly restored by Italian aristocrat, Count Fabrizio Ruspoli, to become the first boutique riad-hotel in Marrakesh.

Walk in the footsteps of many famous visitors, including Ernest Hemmingway, Jackie Jennedy, Rita Hayworth and Sir Winston Churchill and immerse yourself in the charm of a bygone era. There are 45 king-size rooms and suites, set around the patio or on the garden side of the hotel, or in the privacy of the adjoining douiria and Pasha residences. Each is unique in layout, combining contemporary elegance with Moroccan decorative elements. Most have a fireplace and a private balcony or terrace where you can enjoy a drink under the stars.

Indulge in La Maison Arabe’s long tradition of refined Moroccan gastronomy, either in the restaurant or taking part in cooking classes where veteran local chefs divulge age-old culinary secrets. Unwind with a cocktail at the piano-jazz bar, enjoy a hammam and massage at the spa or take a tip in one of the hotel’s two swimming pools.
