Overview
A luxury treehouse
In Swahili, ‘Nyika’ means ‘Large Plains’ or ‘Great Plains’, and Mara Nyika is the perfect sister camp to Mara Plains in Kenya. With the suites and main areas interlinked by raised walkways, Mara Nyika has the feel of a treetop camp. Located in the 20,000-hectare Naboisho Conservancy, you will have access to this expansive landscape and beyond into the main Maasai Mara Reserve.
The camp’s three guest suites and two-bedroom family suite have been designed to take advantage of the shade of the flat-topped Acacia kirkii trees and are set high under the tree’s canopy, offering wonderful views out over the bush and the nearby stream. The suites are vast at about 1,000 sqft, with a private lounge and deck leading into the bedroom and onwards into the bathroom complete with a huge stand-alone copper tub and walk-in shower.
The main tent features an impressive wine cellar, where you can enjoy dinner by candlelight, as well as a comfortable lounge and deck. Being in a private conservancy means you have total freedom to explore on both night and night drives.

Community & Culture
Great Plains supports the Naboisho Women's Bead Group based in a community not far from the camp. This support helps the group to bulk purchase beads and other raw materials for their products and provides training, sales and marketing support. The project enables women in the local community to bolster household income, in turn supporting food security, education, health and more for their families.
Footprint
The camp is run by an impressive solar farm, producing 240v, 24-hour electricity to the suites and main area. It is unable to support hairdryers, shavers or any high wattage device, but low voltage hairdryers are provided.
Conservation
Each guest's stay helps Great Plains to support over 500 Maasai families with a sustainable livelihood through the payment of conservation fees, which ultimately ensures the conservation of the wildlife in this vital corridor of the Maasai Mara eco-system.
