Overview
The Land of Giants
In the middle of the Mashatu Game Reserve’s 29,000 hectares of grasslands, riverine forests, rocky hills, marshes and sandstone ridges in the far eastern frontier of Botswana, Mashatu Lodge can be found amid the greenery surrounding a waterhole.
14 suites wood, stone and thatch suites, spacious and air conditioned, are strung along a seasonal tributary to the Limpopo. Follow raised walkways to the heart of camp with its large swimming pool, dining areas, lounge and museum.
Part of a much larger wilderness area spanning across the borders of South Africa and Zimbabwe, the wildlife here is as spectacular as the views, with superb leopard, cheetah and lion sightings, great numbers of elephants and more.

Mashatu offers the wilderness lover, the bird watcher, the keen botanist, the intrepid hiker and the nature enthusiast the ultimate experience whilst walking in the Land of Giants.

Horse riding
Mashatu Reserve hosts well-trained horses and expert riding guides. There are few things more exhilarating than galloping on horseback alongside herds of antelope, over the wild open plains, kicking dust into the sunset sky.
-
Photographic hide
This concession on Mashatu has photographic hides in two selected sites plus a mobile hide on the reserve. Guests at Mashatu can enlist the photographic expertise of the photographer or simply visit one of the hides during their stay
-
Cycle safaris
The more adventurous may join a mountain bike safari in the company of an armed and highly experienced guide. On a bike, the cyclist is, in effect, conducting his/her own safari and gets to enjoy the reserve and its inhabitants from a completely different perspective.
Conservation
Mashatu Game Reserve forms a major component of the Northern Tuli Game Reserve. Situated within the ‘jewel area’ of the reserve and flanked by the national parks of both South Africa and Zimbabwe, Mashatu management pride themselves on the ecological preservation of the flora and fauna that reside within the reserve.
