Rainforest retreat
As deep into the Amazon Rainforest as you can reach by land, Mirante do Gavião is a contemporary ecolodge set on the Rio Negro inspired by the boatbuilding techniques of the region.
There are 12 suites in total including curved bungalows, family treehouses and larger options with hot tubs and balconies.
Meaning ‘the hawk’s lookout, the lodge has been built to make the most of the views of the river and Anavilhanas archipelago with vistas from the swimming pool, restaurant and a collection of elevated lookouts for spotting birds and sloths.

Activity
The lodge has a number of different activity programs ranging from one to five nights with activities including visits to local Amazonian communities, boating in Anavilhanas National Park, canoeing, fishing and forest trails.
Community & Culture
Mirante do Gavião promotes experiences that about jungle and its peoples, aiming to make stays here integrate the landscape with the communities and culture in an authentic way through local employment, upskilling, cuisine and architecture.
Mirante do Gavião and Expedição Katerre also contribute to community projects in the region, including the Almerinda Malaquias Foundation the initiatives of the Associação dos Artesãos do Rio Jauaperi (AARJ). Currently, FAM supports 40 families in workshops and more than 160 children in educational projects.
