A quirky lodge constructed from stone and wood, looking like an ancient ruin built into the rim of the caldera, Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge makes the most of its position and views.
There are 74 comfortable rooms, each with private balconies and interiors taking inspiration from the surrounding wildlife and Maasai culture.
The restaurant, friendly bar and terrace enjoy similar vistas, with the chance to dine down in the crater for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Sundowners from the rim are a must.
