Overview
One of Australia's most coveted lodges
Come for the awesome views and striking contemporary suites, stay for the outdoor adventure, celebration of local cuisine and underlying feel of genuine quality.
Tasmanian architect Robert Morris Nunn has designed conceptually organic buildings that evoke a connection to the sea with 20 open plan suites fanning out from the stingray shaped main lodge. You’ll find echoes of the natural beauty of the peninsula throughout this stunning lodge. From the pink tones of the Hazards mountains granite and the white beaches and brilliant blue waters, to the greens of the bushland, Saffire Freycinet feels very much of its place.
Tasmania's produce, both from the sea and land, is world-renowned meaning that your meals here will be superb. Think the freshest fish straight from local boats, succulent grass-fed beef and lamb, local wine, artisanal spirits and seasonal fruit and vegetables all chosen daily to create memorable dishes.

Conservation
Saffire’s core principles focus on protecting healthy sites and healing those which are damaged. At their free-range Tasmanian devil enclosure you can learn about the ongoing efforts to help cure devil facial tumour disease which is believed to be transmitted through biting and can spread quickly with devastating results.
Footprint
Once a caravan park and backpackers’ accommodation, the site on which Saffire Freycinet now stands had taken serious strain. A lot of time and effort has been put into trying to regenerate the site by introducing some 30,000 native plants to help bring back what was cleared. They also have bushfire management initiates, rainwater collection systems and have reduced the amount of night lighting on landscaped areas. The landscape design itself was closely based on what the area may have looked like before Western civilization. The building itself incorporates environmentally sustainable practices like insulation, energy-efficient hot water usage and lighting, and natural cycle air flow systems.
