Community & Culture

Solar Mamas is an initiative that empowers local women in Botswana to improve their economic prospects while providing a much-needed service to their communities through solar-powered electrical systems.

Student Conservation Camps work to instill an appreciation of the landscape, its ecology, and the importance of stewarding the land for future generations. The children of the world are the future of tomorrow, and we must look after them.

Conservation

Great Plains Conservation demand excellence and innovation are committed to conservation, sustainability, luxury, and transformative travel experiences, compromising nothing while maximizing each.

Footprint

Sustainability is at the heart of the Great Plains Conservation ethos and sustainable technologies and systems are in place throughout their camps, including pioneering solar power-run camps. Other best practices include the bio-digesters that convert vegetable scraps in methane cooking gas, composting, greywater recycling, use of recycled hardwood in camp construction, and the elimination of single-use plastic. Selinda Camp has achieved the Botswana Tourism Organisation’s highest rating – “EcoTourism” and the Selinda Reserve has been named as one of the world’s Top 100 Sustainable Destinations.
