Overview
Southern spectacle
Serian’s Serengeti South is a mobile camp set up on the southernmost extreme of the Serengeti’s short grass plains – prime position to spectate the wildebeest birthing season when millions of animals spread out across the landscape.
Set up between mid-December and the end of April, the camp is a classic all-canvas affair with six comfortable tents with en suite bathrooms and bucket showers. A candlelit dining mess sits at the heart of the camp.
The incredible number of plains game draws cats and is prime cheetah country with a resident pack of African wild dogs which you can spot on privately guided game drives. Walks here are also an unmissable experience, especially when joined by local Hadzabe and Ndorobo guides.

Game drives
The cornerstone of a safari experience at Serian is that each group has their own open-top safari vehicle, and their own dedicated guide and spotter. Go where the day takes you, without the limitations of fixed schedules, or fitting in with other peoples’ plans. Night drives are also possible here.
-
Walking safari
Walking safaris epitomise the golden chance to immerse in the environment in a way that the noise and speed of vehicles don’t permit. And you could hardly find a better spot than Serian’s Serengeti South for extensive exploration on foot. The wide-open landscape and spectacular scenery, combined with the incredible perspective offered by your Hadzabe and Mangati guides, makes for a beautiful experience.
-
Fly camping
Spend a night at a back to basics camp deep in the bush. Fly camping can easily be incorporated into your stay to add a whole new experience of the Serengeti's wildness.
Footprint
The very foundation of Alex Walker’s Serian is constituted by a deep respect for the beautiful wilds of Kenya and Tanzania, as well as its people and cultures. The preservation of these precious spaces lies at the heart of Serian's ethos and practice, and this manifests itself in a number of ways, from permanent camps relying on solar power for electricity to empowering female guides and supporting de-snaring projects.
