Overview
Purpose-driven luxury
At Singita Kwitonda Lodge you’ll find yourself surrounded by high-altitude forests with breathtaking views of Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes.
A stay here is all about environmentally conscious, purpose-driven experiences. It’s the ideal place to use as a base when going gorilla trekking.
Built to fit perfectly into its stunning location, Singita Kwitonda has eight modern suites and Kataza House, a private four-bedroom villa. A series of volcanic rock pathways connect them all to the main lodge.
Local design and handcrafted details together with layered textures and colours create free-flowing interiors that are inviting and tranquil. Relax around the fire pit, get in on the action in the interactive kitchen and indulge a little at the bar-deli or in the wine cellar.

Take time to visit the Dian Fossey memorial, the Karisoke Research Centre and the Kigali Genocide Museum. During your stay you’ll get to enjoy performances by local singing and dancing groups. There are also plans to set up a Singita Community Culinary School, as well as support early childhood development programmes.
Conservation
There are two conservationists on the Singita Kwitonda team available to tell you all about the lodge’s conservation efforts. Spend time in the Conservation Lounge where there is plenty of extra information available for you to browse. The current reforestation programme on site is set to be expanded in the coming years. There’s also an endemic orchid project in place. The site on which the lodge is built was, in fact, once farming land that was rewilded back to its natural state.
Footprint
The Singita Group is a One Planet Community member. Thermal engineering was used in the construction of the lodge to ensure energy consumption was reduced. Heating is provided by hydro-thermal underfloor systems. The amount of single-use plastic used on site has already been reduced and the plan is to continue to reduce non-recyclable packaging used. The Singita group in general has targets to meet when it comes to managing energy, water and waste.
