Community & culture
Six Senses Yao Noi not only believes in minimising negative impacts, but pioneering positive ones through their environmental and social sustainability policy. The resort has ensured 800 local students are receiving quality education as a result of their educational funding and programming, 503,030 patients benefited from medical equipment donated to public hospitals in Phuket and Phang Nga, and 104,376 members of local communities have access to clean drinking water from Six Senses' installations of Reverse Osmosis filter system.
Conservation
Hornbills, mangroves and clean water are highlighted in Six Senses top sustainability programs. The resort works to protect hornbills as numbers have sadly dwindled in recent years. Their vegetation bears fruit which is a staple of their diet, and they also install artificial nests similar to their natural habitat. In addition to partnering with the Thailand Hornbill Project, the resort is also involved with plant genetic conservation. The resort’s lush environment is also their field study to develop a unique plant data collection and as a living ecosystem they can learn from and research with. The project also aims to enhance the development of the country's agriculture, forestry and economy.
Footprint
Sustainability is the byword for every department in the resort. Six Senses farm-to-table initiative encompasses the Organic Garden, Mushroom Hut, Goat Farm, Chicken Farm and Duck Farm. The resort produces their own water and engages in natural waste water treatment. They make many products on-site or work with local suppliers to eliminate the use of plastic packaging and the carbon footprint of deliveries. Six Senses' creed is Rethink, Responsible, Respect, Refuse, Reuse and Recycle.
