Gorilla trekking and luxury safaris

Uganda

Uganda

Mountain gorillas and more

Between Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, the DRC and South Sudan, Uganda sits at the crossroads of East and Central Africa.

Though landlocked, its geography is defined by water encompassing much of the immense Lake Victoria, Lake Albert and the vast wetlands of Lake Kyoga, as well as the White Nile with its spectacular waterfalls. To the far west, the Rwenzori Mountains reach up to snow-capped and glaciated peaks topping out over 5000 metres.

Some 60 protected areas, including ten national parks, are home to a vast number of species, most famously mountain gorillas in the lush rainforests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga. Chimpanzees can be seen in Kibale and the spectacular Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park, itself home to lions, elephants, leopards, hippos and more. While its neighbours to the east might offer a better safari, a luxury holiday in Uganda can be a real African adventure.

What's the weather like

When to visit Uganda

Sat right on the Equator, Uganda doesn’t have strict seasons. In Bwindi, December to early March and June to September are generally drier making for easier and less muddy gorilla trekking with cool nights and warm days year round.
