Days 1 — 4
Cape Town culture
Cape Town is a wonderful introduction to your adventure. See the best of the city and its stunning surroundings on privately guided tours with plenty of time to discover the buzzing waterfront, art galleries and restaurant scene at your own pace.
You’ll be shown around the city’s historic and cultural landmarks, sample its culinary scene, and ascend the iconic Table Mountain for unforgettable views. On a day out exploring the Cape coastline, share a beach with penguins, see Africa's southernmost tip and get a chance to spot whales from the shore.
Days 4 — 6
Taste the Winelands
A scenic driver away, South Africa’s Winelands are a beautiful area of combed green vineyards dotted with Cape Dutch farmhouses backed by rugged mountains and blue skies.
If you can pull yourself away from your charming hotel, join a passionate oenologist to indulge in the best local produce visiting a blend of historic wineries with centuries of history and new upstarts pioneering biodynamic and organic winemaking.
Days 6 — 9
The Okavango Delta
Fly into Maun, Botswana, before a short light aircraft flight into the Okavango Delta. Each year, the Okavango River flows into northern Botswana, spilling out over the Kalahari to create the world’s largest inland delta. This creates a huge, diverse and dynamic ecosystem that’s a haven for wildlife and the setting for one of the very best safari experiences in all Africa.
On a mix of land and water-based activities from a luxury camp surrounded by pristine wilderness, encounter exciting wildlife such as elephants in their hundreds, rich plains game and predators such as leopards, lions and African wild dogs.
Days 9 — 11
Marvel at Victoria Falls
Depending on where you choose to stay, you’ll be based out of a luxury safari camp on the Zimbabwean or Zambian banks of the meandering Upper Zambezi. Known in the local Lozi language as Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning ‘The Smoke That Thunders’, or in Tonga as Shungu Namutitima, ‘Boiling Water’, the 108m tall and 1,700m wide roaring wall is a wonder of the natural world.
Relax here with a sunset river cruise, head out from your lodge on more safari activities or try out some of the many exciting activities in the area such as white water rafting below the falls.
A boutique lodge sat on the banks of the Zambezi River just upstream from the mighty Victoria Falls.
Combine the splendour of Victoria Falls with an exciting safari experience in a 50,000 hectares private wildlife concession on the Zambezi River.
Days 11 — 12
Overnight in Arusha
Fly from the falls to the Tanzanian town of Arusha, staying at a welcoming lodge in the shadow of Kilimanjaro surrounded by coffee plantations. Relax after your flight or try your hand at harvesting and roasting fresh beans.
Days 12 — 15
Safari on the Serengeti
Fly from Arusha to the Serengeti where you’ll be greeted by an instantly recognizable vista. Savannah plains dotted with rocky koppie outcrops and umbrella-shaped acacia trees, with wandering elephants, giraffes, lazing lion prides, slinking cheetahs and so much more.
Wildlife abounds here year-round, but the plains are at their most spectacular when blanketed with the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra as they follow fresh grasses around the Serengeti on their annual migration. Look forward to a timeless safari experience exciting game drives, romantic sundowners and dining in the bush. The national park itself can get busy, so we prefer private reserves or more remote camps that still put you right in the heart of the action.
This chic, remote Serengeti safari camp is also a conservation initiative, protecting an area crucial to cheetahs and other big cats.
Days 15 — 18
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda
On arrival in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, you’ll be met and driven out of the capital on a sinuous road towards your lodge on the edge of Volcanoes National Park.
The highlight of any stay here is a gorilla trek. At the nearby park HQ, meet your ranger-guide team before trekking into the forest for your encounter with a habituated family group. Watch as young ones play and roll through the undergrowth, mothers delicately eat bamboo and adolescent males show off. A proud silverback is always an impressive sight, especially so on foot in their home. An awe-inspiring wildlife experience and a fitting finale to your adventure.
