Overview
Unwind and indulge
This is a relaxed trip for those looking to unwind, recharge and indulge a little while getting under skin of Argentina and Uruguay.
Begin in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires with an introduction to its rich culture and history on a privately guided walking tour as well as an invitation into the home of a local chef for a memorable dinner. Based out of a charming boutique hotel in a buzzing barrio, you’ll have plenty of time to explore at your own pace, too.
Then head into the countryside outside of Córdoba for a stay at a wonderful family-owned estancia and days spent getting a taster of the gaucho lifestyle as you ride horses across rolling hills, lend a hand with ranching, try your hand at polo or simply relax and enjoy the fabulous homegrown food and Argentine wine.
Cross the Río de la Plata into Uruguay and head to José Ignacio, an exclusive but bohemian fishing village, for four final nights at one of Vik’s art-filled beachside retreats and some fabulous food and wine experiences.

Days 1 — 4
Beautiful Buenos Aires
There’s no better introduction to Argentina than Buenos Aires. Take in handsome neoclassical and art nouveau architecture along tree-lined avenues under glass-clad skyscrapers, cobbled side streets, historic parks and buzzing nightlife. Its mixture of distinct neighbourhoods reflect its past as a country of immigrants – mostly from Spain and Italy but also from across Europe and the Middle East – that has resulted in something unique.
You’ll be staying in a charming boutique hotel, and we’ve included a private walking discovery of Buenos Aires’ fascinating history and a unique dining experience in the home of a local chef. We can tailor the experiences here for those who want to delve into the capital.
Located in one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, the former home-cum-production headquarters of Francis Ford Coppola now transformed into a charming urban retreat.
Days 4 — 8
Estancia adventure
Fly west to the city of Córdoba, heading a short way north into the rolling Sierras Chicas hills to Estancia Los Potreros. Family owned for over a century, and with a permanent team with a collective combined experience here of about the same, this is a home as much as it is a working farm. Every day at the estancia is different. The would-be gauchos amongst you can canter along grassy hilltops, take a dip in natural rock pools, visit local churches on horseback, help round up the young horses, learn how to lasso, or have a go at polo.
Out of the saddle, the cattle and horse trails make for wonderful walking (with the estancia’s dogs in tow) to scenic viewpoints and hidden waterfalls whilst experiencing the plentiful birdlife and colourful wildflowers, or watching the gauchos at work. Doing very little – perhaps some painting or writing – and relaxing into ranch life is a fine way to spend time too. All with fabulous homegrown food, convivial asados and flowing Malbec.
Days 8 — 12
Uruguayan sands
Return to Buenos Aires to take a ferry across the Río de la Plata to the cobbled streets of Colonia del Sacramento, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Uruguay’s oldest towns dating back to 1680. From here, follow the coast to José Ignacio, a sleepy fishing village that during the summer months attracts a rather well-heeled crowd from around Latin America, drawn here by the small collection of stylish hotels, fabulous restaurants and cool Atlantic breeze.
You’ll be based out of one of VIK’s architecturally and artistically adventurous beachside properties. We've included a selection of foodie experiences such as tours of nearby wineries and bodegas and a private culinary class. And there'll be plenty of time to unwind and indulge, exploring the dunes and nightlife, kitesurfing, horse riding and canoeing. During the quieter months, José Ignacio’s beaches attract southern right whales and surfers. Then there’s the spa and more wonderful cuisine to enjoy. A laid-back end to your chilled-out adventure.
