Days 1 — 5
Cruising Komodo
You’ll be met on arrival on Komodo and taken aboard your traditionally styled phinisi yacht, where your captain and crew await. For the next five days, sail the stunning Lesser Sunda Islands, diving on bustling coral gardens, kayaking into caves and snorkelling through mangroves. The marine life here is astounding – from manta rays, turtles, sharks and giant trevally to a rainbow of reef fish, seahorses and octopuses.
Land on completely deserted beaches and hike inland through the jungle to breathtaking viewpoints, learn about island culture and meet dragons. On board, enjoy just-caught fish prepared by your chef and always spectacular sunsets on deck, cocktail in hand, as the stars appear overhead.
Days 5 — 6
A night in Bali
You’ll need to spend at least one night in Bali between your yacht charter and Sumba, but there are worse places for a logistical stopover than the lush stepped paddies of Ubud and the elegant tents at Capella. During your brief stay – which we can always extend – enjoy idyllic rural views on a guided cycle ride, seasonal sustainable dining and Capella’s spa.
Days 6 — 10
Sumba Island
Fly from Bali east to the island of Sumba, a place visited by very few tourists that’s home to one of the very best eco-hotels in the world – Nihi Sumba. Your unique villa, one of 32, is tucked into the rainforest on the edge of a beautiful stretch of beach where rugged luxury meets unregulated freedom.
Learn to master ‘Occy’s Left’ break with resident surf instructors, soak in the Sumbanese countryside and culture on horseback before cooling off in the sea, dive on the reef, paddleboard, make fresh chocolate, find hidden jungle waterfalls, and hike to the spa for epic clifftop views. You can also learn all about the Sumba Foundation’s amazing community projects on the island and Nihi’s real purpose.
