Days 1 — 4
Barossa Valley wine
Arriving in Adelaide, you’ll be met and driven north to the Barossa’s Eden Valley wine region. Your home for the next three nights is Hutton Vale Farm. Surrounded by an idyllic pastoral landscape of rolling hills, woodland and historic vineyards – only the appearance of kangaroos between the vines give away that you’re in Australia, as will the incredibly warm welcome of your hosts.
The family has run this farm for seven generations, creating an award-winning winery and farm renowned for its artisan produce, which you can indulge in from your delightful cottage. You’ll also tour neighbouring vineyards, villages and markets during your time here.
Days 4 — 7
Outback conservation at Arkaba
On a scenic drive north inland, the landscape dries as you enter the spectacular Flinders Range, classic Outback country. You’ll be staying at one of the most exclusive properties in Australia, with all 24,000 hectares of the private Arkaba Conservancy shared with no more than ten guests staying in the beautifully restored 1850s’ homestead.
Once a remote sheep station, the conservancy is being rewilded, replanting native species and letting kangaroos, emus, wallabies, quolls and hundreds of bird species thrive. Explore the reserve on game drives and nature walks with expert guides, learn about the indigenous Adnamatna culture from an elder and see conservation in action.
Days 7 — 9
Explore Melbourne
Take a scenic light aircraft back to Adelaide for your flight east. Melbourne is Australia’s creative and cultural centre, a laidback cosmopolitan place that is very much the modern face of the nation. Divided by the snaking Yarra River before it feeds into Port Phillip Bay, its blend of cutting-edge and grand Victorian architecture, bustling laneways and world-class restaurants, thriving nightlife and green spaces all make it a city the locals are proud of.
You'll be based out of a chic boutique hotel in the city centre, and we can arrange privately guided tours based on your interests, such as sampling Melbourne’s famous café and street food scene, art or history-focused tours, or trips to a nearby island where penguins hop along the sand.
Days 11 — 15
Luxury meets adventure on Tasmania
The island state of Tasmania sits 240km off the mainland. Rugged mountains at its heart – snow-capped in the winter – slope down through lakes, forests and bushland to a coastline of sweeping sandy bays and rocky cliffs. A haven for lovers of the outdoors, here adventure abounds alongside endemic wildlife and delectable fresh produce.
Your home here is the fabulous Saffire Freycinet, one of Australia’s very finest luxury lodges. The views from your suite entice you to explore by kayak, mountain bike, paddleboard and on nature walks. Look forward to learning about their work protecting Tasmanian devils, eating fresh oysters from the bay and free-flowing wine. We can also arrange experiences to see more of the island.
