Days 1 — 2
Overnight in Arusha
Start your trip with a night in the green outskirts of Arusha staying at a welcoming lodge in the shadow of Kilimanjaro surrounded by coffee plantations. Relax after your flight or try your hand harvesting and roasting fresh beans.
Days 2 — 5
Safari on the Serengeti
Board a light aircraft flight to a vast private concession of the Serengeti. At nine times the size of Manhattan and limited to just a handful of fabulous luxury camps and lodges, the Singita Grumeti Reserve is the most exclusive way to experience the wonders of the Serengeti. You’ll be staying at the private Serengeti House, an understatedly glamorous villa with its own spa and an infinity pool boasting incredible views.
You’ll be greeted by an instantly recognizable vista. Savannah plains dotted with rocky koppie outcrops and umbrella-shaped acacia trees, where you will find wandering elephants, giraffes, lazing lion prides, slinking cheetahs and so much more. Wildlife abounds here year-round, but the plains are at their most spectacular when blanketed with the vast herds of wildebeests and zebras as they follow fresh grasses around the Serengeti on their annual migration, with Grumeti River crossings being particularly dramatic. Look forward to a completely flexible safari experience of exciting game drives and guided walks with your private guide, community visits, learning about antipoaching initiatives, wine tastings and more.
Days 5 — 7
Meet the gorillas
On arrival in Kigali, you’ll be met and driven out of the capital on a sinuous road towards Volcanoes National Park and your private home for the next two nights – the stunning Kataza House.
The highlight of any stay here is a gorilla trek. At the nearby park HQ, you’ll meet your ranger-guide team before trekking into the forest for your encounter with a habituated family group. Watch as young ones play and roll through the undergrowth, mothers delicately eat bamboo and adolescent males show off. A proud silverback is always an impressive sight, especially so when you’re on foot in their home. An awe-inspiring wildlife experience.
Either side of your trek, enjoy a little indulgence in your villa’s very own wine cellar, massage room, cinema and a farm-to-table food journey that celebrates Rwandese cuisine. You’ll also have time to visit a village to learn about local life and to find out about Singita’s work to reforest the volcano slopes and extend the gorillas’ home range.
