Days 1 — 2
Overnight in Nairobi
Begin your discovery of Kenya with a night at a charming guesthouse in a green suburb of Nairobi.
During your time here, we can arrange tours to nearby attractions such as the former home of Karen Blixen, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's elephant orphanage or the Giraffe Centre.
Days 2 — 5
Safari in the Mara
Discover one of Africa’s most important conservation and wilderness areas. The Maasai Mara hosts an astounding diversity and density of wildlife year-round, especially lions, leopards, cheetahs and elephants. Between July and October, millions of wildebeests and zebras cross from the Serengeti in Tanzania to create awe-inspiring natural spectacle known as the Great Migration.
Based out of a safari camp in a community-owned conservancy, you’ll enjoy game drives without the national park’s crowds, as well as enjoying the freedom to explore on guided safari walks and night excursions to spot nocturnal species. It also means you are directly supporting local communities and conservation through your stay, and you’ll get to meet the Maasai who are sharing their land with you.
An innovative eco-camp in the Maasai Mara National Reserve offering one of the greenest safari experiences in Kenya.
Offbeat Mara is a small, traditional safari camp situated within the Mara North Conservancy, which works closely with the local Maasai.
Days 5 — 8
Adventure in Laikipia
Sosian, in the rolling hills of Laikipia, was once an overgrazed ranch devoid of wildlife. Today, its ecology has been restored in a way that works in harmony with cattle rearing, creating a haven for endangered species such as wild dogs, reticulated giraffes and Grevy’s zebras.
As it is a private ranch, there is an exciting mix of activities on offer from game drives and walking safaris to wild swimming, fly camping and horseback riding (a speciality here). With a relaxed family feel and real freedom to explore, a stay here is always a lot of fun.
Days 8 — 11
Northern Kenyan conservation
Your lodge for the next three nights is the wonderful Sarara, situated on the edge of the enormous Namunyak Conservancy with views out across the rugged Mathews Range in Kenya’s remote north. The owners care deeply about conservation and the local Samburu community, and a stay here is an inspiring experience of traditional lifestyle of the region and its wildlife.
Explore the mountains on game drives, on foot or horseback. Regular sightings include elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, gerenuks and black rhinos, while wild dogs are becoming increasingly common as are encounters with leopards. Of the many cultural experiences, a highlight is the ‘singing wells’, where families from the area gather to share stories, trade messages and tend to their livestock. You’ll also get to visit the incredible community-owned Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, meeting a keeper for feeding time.
