Family safaris in Africa
Life-enriching adventures
A safari is a great way to spend quality time with your family. Immersed in Africa’s incredible wilderness, iconic wildlife and rich cultures, the right kind of experiences can have profoundly positive effects on young and old minds alike. And being a Niarra trip, it will have a positive impact on where you’re exploring, too.
Niarra's Travel Researchers will work with you to create an African adventure tailored to your family whether you're a multigenerational group aged 8 to 80 after maximum flexibility, have teenagers up for a life-enriching adventure, or would like a little downtime from younger ones thanks to experienced babysitters and child-focused guides.

Where to go?
South Africa is ideal for families with younger children because there is no need for yellow fever vaccinations and there are some superb safari areas that don’t require malaria medication. Wildlife is brilliantly accessible, hospitality and service are exceptional everywhere you go, it's possible to self-drive, and distances needn't be too epic.
Kenya and Tanzania offer something for all ages, but families with kids over eight get the most from it. Slightly older kids tend to be more patient on driving and walking safaris. Interactions with eastern Africa's 100 unique cultures and communities, whether through crafts in a village, learning tracking skills from a Maasai warrior, football games with a local school, may also have a more lasting impact on slightly older children.
Botswana’s Kalahari Desert, lunar Makgadikgadi salt pans and legendary Okavango Delta are some of Africa's most pristine wildernesses. Here there are a handful of family-friendly camps and we can even arrange completely private mobile safaris for a once-in-a-lifetime family adventure for those with teenagers.
Our Travel Researchers are experts at child-friendly vacations, so get in touch to start planning your family adventure in Africa.
